316L stainless steel welded pipes are basically sold on the market, and 316L welded pipes are completely replaced by 316L. 316L stainless steel welded pipe is a main pipe material widely used in construction engineering. The shape of the pipe is an oblong hollow steel pipe. Mechanical equipment, petrochemical equipment, medical equipment, food and light industry transmission pipes or mechanical parts will use 316L stainless steel welded pipes, but many friends will confuse 316L with 316. Then we introduce the difference between 316L welded pipe and 316 welded pipe from the following five points:
1. Difference in cost
The carbon content of 316L welded pipe is slightly lower, which is more convenient for welding. Therefore, the price of 316L stainless steel welded pipe is slightly more expensive than 316 stainless steel welded pipe, but the difference is not large. In addition, 316 L welded pipe can also be called ultra-low carbon 316 stainless steel.
2 The difference between corrosion resistance
316 L welded pipe has stronger corrosion resistance and is suitable for strong corrosion areas such as seaside and sea. In addition, 316 stainless steel welded pipe is not recommended to consider the previous conditions
3. The difference in strength
The tensile strength of 316L welded pipe is higher than that of 316 welded pipe. The tensile strength of 316L stainless steel welded pipe is higher than 520 MPa. The tensile strength of 316 welded pipe is only greater than 480 Mpa. This is because carbon is a strong austenite forming element, which can significantly increase the strength of stainless steel welded pipes.
4. Difference in welding treatment
Carbon (C) has a negative effect on the corrosion resistance of stainless steel welded pipes. Especially for stainless steel welded pipes that need to be welded, the corrosion resistance of low-carbon TP316 L welded pipes is lower than that of 316 welded pipes. Good corrosion resistance, 316 stainless steel welding cross section needs to be solution annealed after welding. If 316L welded pipe is used, solution annealing after welding is not required.
5. The difference between applications
The cost difference between 316 L stainless steel welded pipe and 316 stainless steel welded pipe is not much. The corrosion resistance and weldability of 316 L stainless steel welded pipe are significantly better than ordinary 316 stainless steel welded pipe.
From the perspective of the above five points, stainless steel welded pipe factories are reluctant to produce 316 welded pipe, because the demand for ordinary 316 welded pipe is very low, and the cost is not much different. Therefore, the actual circulation in the market is basically low-carbon 316L stainless steel welded pipe. Generally, 316 welded pipe is rarely sold unless there is a specific demand.
